PAYE Modernisation - How to check your payroll data is RTR ready

Real Time Reporting (RTR) comes into effect on 1 January 2019. To help you prepare for this new legislation, you must complete the following:

Task 1: Check your company information

Your company’s tax registration number, address and contact details are included on your returns to Revenue. You must check this information is correct in Sage Business Cloud Payroll. Read more >

Task 2: Check your employee records are correct

Within each of your employees records, you must enter their personal public service (PPS) number, date of birth and address. You should also do the following if applicable:

  • For new starters this year – Check a start date is specified within the employee’s record. Also ensure that you’ve submitted a P45 part 3 or P46 file to Revenue via their website.
  • For leavers – Check a finish date is specified within the employee’s record. If there isn’t one, mark the employee as a leaver now. Also ensure that you’ve submitted a P45 file to Revenue and provided the employee with their official P45.

Task 3: Submit employee list to Revenue

If Revenue ask for a list of your employees, you can easily generate the Employee List file in Sage Business Cloud Payroll, which you can then submit to them via their website.
