Useful tips and resources

We’ve gathered together some fantastic resources to keep you up to date with changes in legislation, as well as the latest information and help available to you.

Brexit

We have a dedicated Brexit Forum of experts to closely monitor Brexit negotiations and develop plans to manage any resultant Brexit implications.

You can find some useful resources to help you prepare from our Help Centre.

Making Tax Digital (MTD)

We’ve developed a range of tools to help you prepare, how MTD will impact your business and what you need to do.

Employment allowance changes

From the 2020/2021 tax year, HMRC will make employment allowance available to businesses and charities whose employer national insurance contributions (NICs) bill was below £100,000 in the previous tax year.

Any companies that exceed this are no longer eligible to claim employment allowance.

CIS VAT changes

New VAT reverse charge legislation is due to take effect on 1 October 2020 and affects all UK VAT registered businesses that buy or sell Construction Industry Scheme services.

These changes mean that the customer, rather than the supplier, will be required to account for the VAT and pay this to HMRC.

Pensions re-enrolment

Re-enrolment means every three years you must put certain employees back into an automatic enrolment pension scheme and complete a re-declaration of compliance to tell TPR you’ve met your duties.

Sage City support groups

Open 24/7, Sage City is an online community for customers, partners, accountants and colleagues, and is a gateway to a wealth of Sage resources.

You can visit any time to find answers and ask questions, or share product experiences, tips and suggestions with colleagues, as well as industry and product experts.

It’s the place to help you and others build, support and learn.

HMRC resources

HMRC publishes the employer bulletin six times a year. These give employers and agents the latest information on topics and issues that may affect them.

The HMRC Online Customer Forum is also a good place to go to see what others are asking, ask your own questions and get answers from experts.
