Extended trial balance

Use the extended trial balance to see the sum of the movements (adjustments) made to each nominal account in the current set of accounts. This view helps you see what adjustments have been made and how they have affected the profit.

To view the extended trial balance, from Trial Balance > Extended Trial Balance.

From the extended trial balance, you can:

  • Create a journal.
  • See the detail of a balance. To do this, simply click the relevant row.
  • Edit the initial trial balance.
  • Export the extended trial balance to a PDF or CSV file. To do this, choose the relevant option from the Create Journal drop-down menu.

Understanding the extended trial balance

Initial trial balance Shows the initial balance for the nominal account, as entered in the initial trial balance.
Adjustments Shows the sum of all journal entries made to this nominal account, excluding those entered in the initial trial balance. If there are no journal entries to a nominal account, the column will be blank. If the adjustments sum to zero, a ‘0’ will be shown.
Final trial balance Shows the sum of all journal entries made to this nominal account, including those entered in the initial trial balance.Final trial balance values = Initial trial balance + Adjustments.
